Success for Gwynedd and Ynys Môn Brass Band

Gwynedd and Môn Senior Brass Band, who are part of Gwynedd and Môn Schools Music Service, achieved success in a competition held recently for bands from across the UK.

The Gwynedd and Môn Brass Band conducted by Mr Dylan Williams came third and were awarded the Gold Award at the Brass Bands Championship held at Warwick.

They beat off competition from 15 other rival bands from across the UK in the same section. The band members include pupils between 13 and 18 years old who receive instrumental lessons in Gwynedd and Ynys Môn schools.

Ann Jones, Manager of the Gwynedd a Môn Schools Music service said: “We are extremely proud of these young musicians and are grateful to them all for their commitment during their busy exam revision period. This is a fantastic achievement and testament to the talent and hard work of our tutors and pupils.

The Senior Brass Band now have the opportunity of taking part in a workshop with members of the world class and winners of Band Cymru 2018 – Cory Band and they will be part of their concert held at the Pritchard Jones Hall, Bangor on June the 2nd.

The Gwynedd and Anglesey Schools Music Service has been providing lessons in schools across both counties for over 20 years and has over 3,000 pupils taught by 50 tutors. The Brass Band and other regional groups and ensembles are also lead by the Music Service and ensure the children have an opportunity to develop their musical skills.
